Judy taught her first Crochet Amigurumi class at the store. I had the pleasure of meeting her and out from a felted bag dotted with puppy heads, she pulled out the most amazing cast of knit and crochet characters.

There was Sandman hanging out with the gang.

Maurice and his dance partner, Sara.

The very sweet Kayte Did.

And the ravenous looking Donut Bug! Intrigued? Interest piqued? I know mine is! Look for Judy’s classes in the fall, I’ll save you a seat.

Now you have more time! More opportunity!
The raffle dates extended - You have until August 21st to get your entries in!
Just $1! Mail them in or stop by the store!

The weather might be warm for a San Francisco summer, but the knitting love is still in the air. To start off we have Kate, who made this amazing man, all kitted out in handknit goods as part of a birthday gift for a friend. It is based on this pattern. She blogged about the details here. That little ball of yarn just kills me!

Carlos is modeling the wonderful hat that Mike knit out of Malabrigo worsted. The pattern is of course the Koolhass Hat by Jared Flood of Brooklyn Tweed, from the Interweave Knits Holiday 2007 issue. The issue has sadly sold out, but it is available for sale as a single pattern at Knitting Daily.

This is our very own Chris with a stunning art neck piece made from a variety of yarns. This is an original design from one of the most intuitive knitters I have met. It is available for purchase at the Museum of Craft and Design.

Can you believe that Kathleen used a circular knitting loom to make this hat? Wow! She used Misti Alpaca Chunky in USC colors for the lucky recipient to get their collegiate pride on!

Kristina made this lovely side to side garter sweater using Terra from The Fibre Company. The colorway is called Henna, doesn’t it just glow?

Kathy is modeling her incredible dress from issue 35 of Rebecca. She used Zara which really makes the cables and stitch pattern pop!

Carrie’s cardigan in Rowan Summer Tweed makes me want to knit up one for myself! The pattern is Bianca’s Jacket by Michele Rose Orne from the Fall 2006 issue of Interweave Knits.

Katie sent us a photo of her completed sweater, based on the Santa Cruz Hoodie in the book Knit 2Together. She combined two lovely colors of Misti Alpaca Chunky. It looks like the perfect sweater to throw on when the fog does roll in!

It’s for the sensitive types, but really it goes to show that you don’t need fragrance to get your woolens clean.
We are over-the-moon thrilled that our Malabrigo shipment arrived. All seventeen boxes! The store is well-stocked with Silky Merino, Organic Cotton, Lace, Worsted and Chunky weight Merino, as well as Aquarella and Gruesa.
The skeins seem all the more precious after the fire at the Malabrigo Mill. Of course buying their yarn will help, but we wanted to do a little more, harness a little bit of that knitting philanthropy and sweeten the deal with prizes! We are holding a raffle for these three beauties:

Worsted plied in Peach

Sock Yarn in Green-Ocher
